Simplified-Issue and Accidental Death Paths: What a Confidential Review Is (and Is Not)
Gregory M. Sloan, CLU®, ChFC®, Licensed Insurance Representative · NPN 2145633
A short confidential review maps household needs next to the bike policy. It is not an online application, not a Progressive-style motorcycle quote, and not a promise that any carrier will issue coverage.
Executive Summary
- A confidential informational review typically covers goals, what the motorcycle policy already does, household income/obligation questions, and how carriers — not the agent — decide simplified-issue or accidental death paths.
- Gregory M. Sloan does not underwrite. No “you will be approved,” no guaranteed rates, and no claim that accidental death benefits replace every household need.
- This site is rider household / AD&D–life path information — not a motorcycle vehicle quote engine. Soft next step: Call 800.365.TERM.
What a confidential review covers — and what it skips
A typical 15-minute confidential review is a structured conversation, not a form that auto-issues a policy. In practice it usually walks through:
- Goals — what the household would need if the rider does not come home (income, mortgage or rent, shared obligations).
- Existing bike coverage — what the motorcycle / vehicle policy already handles (the machine and liability) so categories stay separate.
- Household needs — gaps between vehicle coverage and income-protection questions.
- Carrier decision — which product paths may be discussed (including simplified-issue or accidental death paths where available), always subject to product rules and underwriting.
What it skips: treating the call as an online application, guaranteeing issue or price, running a Progressive-style bike-premium calculator, or presenting Gregory as the underwriter. Carriers decide. Independent advisory means clarifying categories — not scare copy.
Simplified-issue and accidental death paths — process, not promises
“Simplified-issue” and “accidental death” describe product paths carriers may offer under their own rules. In a review they are discussion topics: what each path is generally designed to do, what questions often come up, and why honest disclosure matters. They are not a promise that any rider will qualify, that AD&D replaces every need, or that a phone call is itself an approval.
If illustrative face amounts come up — including about $101k, $201k, or $301k — treat them only as illustrative amounts discussed with a Licensed Insurance Representative, subject to product rules and underwriting. Not an instant quote. Not guaranteed issue or price.
Context for why households ask at all still comes from federal per-mile patterns, not personal predictions. In NHTSA Traffic Safety Facts — Motorcycles: 2023 Data (DOT HS 813 732), motorcyclist fatality rates were 31.39 per 100 million VMT vs 1.13 for passenger-car occupants (nearly 28×); injury rates 409 vs 88 (nearly 5×); motorcycles about 3.1% of registered vehicles and 0.6% of VMT; and in 3,419 fatal two-vehicle motorcycle–other crashes, 46% (1,588) involved the other vehicle turning left while the motorcycle went straight, passed, or overtook. Those figures describe population patterns — not medical advice and not an underwriting decision. Optional newer glance — NHTSA Motorcycles: 2024 Data (DOT HS 813 824): fatality rate nearly 27× (28.00 vs 1.05), about 3% registered and 0.7% VMT — always label the year.
Gas or electric, mechanical points (torque delivery, quieter approach, battery-pack mass) stay informational only. NHTSA sheets used here do not authorize invented e-motorcycle brand fatality multipliers.
Why this is not a motorcycle quote engine — then the call
This property will not run a motorcycle vehicle quote calculator. Bike liability and physical damage stay with the motorcycle specialist. Household simplified-issue / accidental death / life-protection questions stay with a Licensed Insurance Representative — same household, different job.
No Americans Insured company framing. Title remains Licensed Insurance Representative only — never Underwriter.
Understand how to protect your household before you assume the bike policy is enough.
